Child’s First Dental Visit

Why it is so important??

Dental fear during childhood becomes worst with the time if it is not taken care of properly. To overcome this fear, it is very important for a child to visit dentist. This will decide how the child is going to feel about his dental appointment rest of his life. Also, it is very important as it will set the habit of maintaining oral hygiene from very early stage.

What age child should be taken??

Around at the age of one when child’s first tooth comes. This is the perfect time one should start talking their child to the dentist for their first dental check-up. This should be dome because 25% of the babies have at least one cavity by the time they reach four. Taking the child to the dentist at early age will develop good dental habits which will help him in chewing and speaking comfortably.

Preparation for first visit??

You should take care about the child whether he is feeling comfortable and safe. Parents can do this by keeping themselves calm and they should also avoid using and word which can make the child terrified. Rather you should be relaxed and excited about visiting dentist. Parents should make sure that the pediatric they have chosen must have at least 2 years of expert training for treating child.

What to expect??

First appointment should always be informal so that the child should become comfortable with the dentist. Dentist should explain oral hygiene in very interesting ways. They should explain how cavities harm their teeth.
When both parents and dentist feel that the child is comfortable and ready then only dentist will do oral exam. This first dental visit will create h huge impact on how they feel about dentist, so it is very important to be prepared so that the child’s first meeting with dentist is successful
